HURRICANE - Whatever you wanted in a game, you got it at the Snow Canyon at Hurricane game Friday. It ended up going down to the final minute of the game as SC scored a touchdown with 1:25 left in the game and chose to go for the two-point conversion, but came up short as Hurricane wins their fourth consecutive game 27-26.
After a scoreless first quarter, Hurricane got on the board first with a 42-yard run by senior Zach Sorenson. The Warriors scored on the next two possessions, both touchdown drives capped off by Chase Robinson TD’s. SC left just too much time on the clock after the second Robinson touchdown as Hurricane’s Tim Long led the charge with 1:12 left in the half on an 8-play 89-yard drive, which included a 44-yard pass to Anderson Rich. Junior Jarom Healey, knotted the score at 13-13 at intermission.
Hurricane could not find an answer to stop SC’s Austin Larson or Robinson. The duo combined for 140 yards, darting around like a ball in a pin ball machine, never giving the Tigers a good look.
Both teams exchanged touchdowns in the third quarter on outstanding plays. First Long found Rich again, this time from 53-yards as Rich pulled the ball away from an SC defender, spun around and made it into the end zone.
SC quickly countered as Larson connected with Jake Brown on a lob pass that Brown outmuscled Anderson Rich for the score.
The final period was also equally intense. Healey scored his second TD of the evening and then SC drove 80-yards with Robinson getting his third TD prior to the missed two-point conversion.
